Thanksgiving- What and who to be thankful for

I had a fantastic Thanksgiving feast. It was an adventure to cook and prepare all of the food, but that's what makes Thanksgiving interesting, is that each year is going to be different. But there's something that will never change, is the love and compassion I have for my family and friends. I'm so thankful to a have the family and friends that would love me no matter what. I'm also truly thankful to meet all of my new friends that I have in college. I just want to say thank to all what help out in the semester. To be honest, I wouldn't have made it through college without you all the love and support to not only my family members and friends, but to all of my new friends that I've met in college. You're all the greatest. I don't care if I just met you guys in college, at this point in my college career, I definitely call you guys a part of my family and I'm really going to miss you guys next semester.

Trevor's blog-Thanksgiving

It's that time of year again, thanksgiving is upon us. Only two more weeks left, and let me tell you guys something, I can't wait to be off of school for an entire week and relaxing at home with the smell of turkey roaming around in my house. It's the one holiday that I can something out of it. I'm not dissing on any other holiday, there all awesome too, but Thanksgiving is my favorite.

I'm planning for my Thanksgiving is first all of my family members  is coming to feast and either watch football or basketball, it's different each year, I don't know why. After eating, then were going to site seeing at hogs back, taking pictures of our beautiful nature. Once we complete are long journey around Hogs back, then we go back home to play some exciting games with the family, I don't what kind of games that were playing this year, it's usually what my little sisters want to play. After an exciting day spending time with the family, than it's time to relax and and be lazy for the entire week off, that's how I'm spending my Thanksgiving.

Halloween didn't go so well :(

It was actually supposed to be an awesome time for Halloween. It was a couple years ago, and all my friends were suppose to go to a party out of town. The day before the party, my boss called me, and usually two things would process in my mind; either she wants me to work, or she wants me to work, I wondered what it was going be. My boss: "Hey Trevor, I know this is last minute, but everyone is going out of town, and I was wondering if you can work." I wanted to tell her that I was going to a party, but I couldn't tell her, so I told her yes.

So it was Halloween, and I was stuck watching kids instead of going to the coolest party ever. I mean it's  bad watching kids, but I wanted to go to the party. So I found out that we are hosting a kids party at my work, an overnight party. I felt a little better, until the night of the party. I say that , because after the kids eating to much candy and soda, there just bouncing off the walls and running all over the place.

The morning when the party ends, I was so tired and exhausted that I just went home and crawled into bed for the majority of the weekend. It sucked that I couldn't go to the party, but watching kids running around and being crazy beats the heck out of doing nothing at home.

Possible road trip

If anybody is thinking of going on a road trip next summer, feel free to talk to me. I'm thinking on going on a road trip around the east coast some time in June, but it's a possibility. I'm estimating that the trip will take about a couple weeks, depending on the where we stay, and how long we want to stay at each destination. But it's just a thought, if any of you were interested on embarking on a journey, please talk to me and will see what happens.

Winter is coming

The time has come, winter is almost upon us. For the people that hasn't experienced the cold, dreadful snow. Prepare for the time of your life. Make sure to dress warm from the wool socks to your feet to the ski makes to your head. It's not as bad in the winter time, just make sure to dress warm and keep a positive. When you do that, spring will be hear before you guys know it.

bowling tonight

Tonight at 6:30 will mark the five weeks that I have been on the bowling league with my best friend Tim and his wife Carla. Before graduating high school, Carla and Tim persuaded me to join their adult league team. And I accepted, and let me tell you guys this, it was the best decision of my life. I ended up bowling a 289, my all time highest. And I couldn't of achieved my goal of being the best bowler that I can be without my best friends that persuaded of me to join their team.

Trevor's Blog-Timothy Harris

Dear Timothy,

I was so pleased that I read your essay. It's really cool that you want to get in the field of criminal justice, I think that's really awesome. I'm quite aware that you read my essay and seen what needs to be done with me as a writer. I feel that you and me are similar in a way that we want to pursue in a career that we both love.

You wrote down that being a criminal justice doesn't involve in a lot of writing. But that it does require a lot of reading and writing. In my career being a chef, it has some reading and writing too, so it comes to my attention that me and you both and work more on improving on each others writing skills. If you have any questions if you have trouble with anything, whether it's writing, reading, or just want to talk, feel free to message me.

Thanksgiving break

I  can't wait for thanksgiving break to be here. It's the only time out of the year that we can be out of school just to eat a large quantity of food. I have everything planned out for my thanksgiving break. First I'm taking my family out on a large hike around hogs back. Then hike up sugar loaf to take pictures of the beautiful multicolor leaves. Once my family members come into town, were going to play a bunch of games, such as football, basketball etc. Then wait for a day without eating so that I can engulf some wonderful food. After that, I'm spending the rest of the time sleeping and hanging out with the family.

YFC Family

It has been almost two years since I started my job as a YMCA staff/ Youth and Family Center staff as well. I can't believe it has been two years already, boy times does go quick. I remember my first time working as a staff. The consistent screaming, yelling throughout the whole building. I felt that I wanted to pull my hair out and run out the door. But I told myself it's the first day, and that the first day is always the worst day. But as time went on, I got use to being with my favorite group of kids and staff members. About a month ago, the entire YFC kids and staff threw me a party to acknowledge a an awesome staff I am to them. I was just in tears, because how much dedication everyone of them put to throw me a party. I must be the luckiest man alive, to have such awesome friends that I can call themselves family, it's just an honor to have such awesome people being in my life.

College experience so far

What can I say about my college so far. The fact that I constantly slave on homework and tests and quizzes every time that I blink or catch my breathe. My college life experience so going really well. I have so many good friends that I have made along the way, some that I had in high school, and some that I have met in college. I'm loving my schedule, I don't have to get super early anymore and I get done with my classes with basically half the day to myself. Half the day to just spend time for studying and myself. I can't wait what college has to offer me in the future.

Spending time with family

This weekend I wanted to do something special with my family, because I work so hard with my job and plus with school. I'm usually gone from 8 am to 8 pm sometimes even longer. And my parents support me all the way, they were always there on my good days and my bad days. And I wanted to do some special. So I took the entire weekend off and took my family to do just about everything you can possibly imagine in Marquette, I'm just exaggerating, but my family and I did do a lot of things this weekend, such as going on hikes and taking them out to dinner and going to the movies, well specifically took my little sisters to the movies, I took them to see Hotel Transylvania, they both loved it and I thought it was alright too. I think to myself that if I stop doing school work and stop working, and look around me and what I have, I can see that I have the best family a guy can ever ask.

Snow White, Rose Red

Rose Eye's

What get's added in the Eye's of Rose, is that she is this social kind of person. She loves to talk to other people.

I feel that Rose at first wasn't actually comfortable with the guy with the beard being there with them. But after a while, it seems that Rose began to be more open for conversations, gotten to know the guy better.

In Rose's perspective, being the youngest out of the two, she would be more of a follower with her big sister.

Almost a 300

This Friday was the closest that I had ever came to get a 300 in bowling. I had the first 10 strikes in a row and I knew deep down in the pity of my stomach that I was going to do get a 300. I told everyone before hand that if this does happen that no one is gong to watch me while I bowl. And what does everyone do, hover around where I bowl and watches me. I went up to the approach, getting ready to shoot what maybe the greatest shots of my life. I've waiting for this day for about four years. I went to go and throw the ball and my nerves shot threw the roof and the ball went straight into the gutter ball. My team, my family and myself couldn't believe what happened. I guess it was too stressful and I was pretty nervous. It was so upsetting to think that it took me four years to get up to this point and just come down on myself because of a few nerves that were shot. But my parents were still proud of me that I accomplished what I did, and I guess in a way I'm proud of myself too.

Book talk

I took on the task of getting the extra credit in the class by going to the book talk. Before I heard the book talk, I thought it was going to be some person coming in and trying to persuade everyone to buy her book, in a way she did, but it wasn't like any other book talk that I went to. She started talking about her grandfather back in World War II and how that black soldiers were being segregated and talking about how the Cuban's were being segregated by the blacks. She also talked about her childhood, how her family has a lot of knowledge but were very poor, so it was pretty hard for her to follow her dreams, because everyone wanted her to get a job that would support herself and her family one day. But she told herself and to everyone that if you believe in something, you should go off and do and work very hard to achieve your dream. I found the talk to be very influential and very inspiring. It makes you feel that if you have a dream, just work very hard at never give up on your dream.

The challenge

So my friend is training for this triathlon this summer. And he knows that I'm this big running and biking kind of person. Last Saturday he wanted to see if I can train with him if I have time, and I said sure. We started as soon as I said yes. My friend and I started at Presque Isle and rode on the coast line going toward Harvey and rode back toward the city. And after 3 long hours of riding, we ended back toward the island. I'm assuming for a triathlon we run after riding, but for my friend, they're was a catch. After biking over twenty five miles, we ended up swimming an additional 7 miles around the coast line. I was glad that my friend called me up so that I can help him train, but what I found to be the most enjoyable thing is that my friend acknowledges  me not only as a runner and biker guy, but also as an inspiration to him. He just wants to do something that he can remember for the rest of his life. I'm glad that I can be apart of his journey to success.

Meeting Picnic

Had a good time today with my Y staff family members. Food was fantastic, I was shocked of how much different food creations were there. There was some foods that I didn't even know that even existed, such as moose teriyaki on a stick, it was delicious. The meeting picnic really reminded of me why I started working at the Y. The connections between people that walk into the Y, whether it was regulars, or it's beginning newcomers, we have great connections with the Y members and the people in the community. It's a blessing to have embarked in the journey with the Y staff in this past year and a half.

Bowling league

Last night during league was fantastic. I bowled ten strikes in a row thinking that I was going to bowl my first 300 game. But of course the nerves got to me of course, ending up getting a seven ten split in the eleventh frame and ending up getting a 283. See I realized something last night, is that even if my nerves got to me, I never gave up from that. I kept going on further in the league, and in the end I averaged 215. My highest average in my whole life, and boy I was so happy about that.

Fall

Marquette is one of the most beautiful towns in the upper peninsula. Especially during fall. The temperature is cooling down, the leaves are changing, it can't get any better then this. Oh yeah, it can be. Just go hike up sugar loaf mountain. Once you get to the top, it get a thousand times better. I was just up there a couple days ago in the evening time. Boy does the sunset really reflect off the different color leaves, it was just incredible. That's why I choose to stay here, well you guys of course.

Wild Cats Won

Wow, what a football game that the Wild Cats performed last night. There were a lot of really good plays that was done by the quarter backs. I would have to give a shout to do the receivers that had some fantastic catches that was played in the first quarter. The defend players also did awesome out there too, if it wasn't for our defense, we wouldn't had done the things that was done last night. I would have to say sorry for the players that got injured last night. You guys have played awesome, and you guys are awesome. But most of all, I would have to give a shout out for the players and the marching band for both excellent performance.

Friendship

On January 1st will be 11 years ago since my closest friend Shane and I became friends. I can remember the first time Shane and I became friends. We were in Second Grades and Shane and I were both pretty shy and nervous. During snack time, Shane was trading Yugi-Oh cards with other kids, and I was happy because I remembered that I had a tub filled with Yugi-Oh cards. So the next day around snack time, I had some cards and Shane seen that had some cards too, and that's when we both knew that we were going to be lifelong friends. That's an understatement, there was a lot to it of how we became friends, but that's all I can remember. It's awesome, how the little things change how two people can become really close friends. And we are still very close friends today.

Trevors blog- Arguments

I'm not the kind of person that would get into some big arguments, but this one I will never forget for the rest of my life. Now I'm not the person that really talks about politics and I don't really pay attention what goes on in our political system. But my friend is really big in politics and knows whats going on. One day we were watching T.V. and the news was on and my friend wanted to see whats going on. The topic was gay marriage and pushing to legalize gay marriage. Now I got to tell you, my friend is very religious and he doesn't believe in that stuff. He was saying that it's a sin of people want to legalize gay marriage, and I told why not, everyone has the same rights no matter if people are gay or not. All of a sudden he yells at me about agreeing to gay marriage. I tried to calm him down and to talk to him about, but he wouldn't stop, so I had to tell him to leave. I was very upset because in our six years of being friends we fought like that. So I went to his house and tried to talk to him. He still wouldn't talk to me, because what I said. I told that everyone has they're own opinion about things. For hours talking that I don't want to get into, but we ended up relieving our issues and the fight is over. I wasn't going to let six years of being best friends change because of some topic on the news.

College

College so far has been a blast. Even though that I'm in the block, I feel that it's a big advantage for us freshmen, such as meeting the same people for all of our classes, and get to know each other very well for only a short amount of time. I mean college as a lot of things to offer. All you can eat meals for a reasonable price. Different clubs and sports that anyone can try out. I mean it's just and incredible experience. And I hope these experiences will influence me to pursue in a life long career, which I don't know what I want to do yet.

Over 30 miles

On Friday, September 4th, I finally accomplished my goal, I biked 34.5 miles, boy how hard that was. I started at Presque Isle, if some people don't know where that's at it's on the Island right by the Ore doc. I ended riding around Marquette and riding toward Harvey and I finished wright back at the Island. It took me two hours and forty five minutes. I was so exhausted after that journey, my parents was so proud of me. Finally accomplished my goal before the snow dropped.

Blues Fest

Had a wonderful time at the Blues fest today. It was my sisters first time going to a blues fest, but they still had a good time. The music was fantastic, despite the people that I saw was very rude and making mean looks at me. But other than that my family and I had a really good time.

 The life of exercising...

Was so excited to ride my bike with my mother and I, because we never get to spend time with each other, with working all time you know. So we were going to ride around the island and towards Harvey and come back, but one of her peddles broke off we needed to repair it. So I spent the entire day fixing her peddle. When I thought I was finally done fixing the darn then, other problems came about. Her back tires were worn out and needed tires. It just didn't end. So I just got in time to write this down on my blog. If you guys have any problems like this incident, make sure to post this on my blog.

You guys are awesome, keep on posting.

 The Wild Life

Just got done camping out in the North Country trails. It was amazing. Well, I could've done it with out the rain of course. But other than that it was an amazing trip with my friends before it got cold. Fun fact one of my friends told me, is that the North Country trails can stretch from Marquette all the way to New York City. I was inspired by that, so I took it upon myself to ask a bunch of my friends to see if they want to do the trail with me too. Most of them said yes. So that's what I'm going to do next summer some time in June.

First Trevor's blog and review

Hey people of the block. My name is Trevor Buchanan. I'm from Marquette. I love to cook. I've been cooking for almost 6 years now. I should be getting into cooking classes coming up next year, and my goal is to move out west to pursue a cooking career and hopefully own a restaurant. I also love to draw. I've been on the bowling team in high school for four years.

So I found out that I have to write in my blog that I just created for 3 times a week for the rest of semester, just another thing that I have to remember for homework.

Most of my post will be about the stuff that is going on in class and also stuff that is going on outside of class, whether it's an event that I'm going to or other events that's going on in Marquette. So if you the time and location of any event that is going on in Marquette, please post it and I would comment on it.
